I am checking the internet for un-expensive laptops that you can use as an alternative to MacBook Air 2018. Then is when I came accross Lenovo IdeaPad 730S an interesting laptop that is coming at a very decent price starting of only 720$. In this article, I will make a review of the

Design

IdeaPad 730S it comes in silver or grey finishes and is completely built from aluminum. It is having a nice design with a 13.3 inch display and a thickness of only 11.9 mm. The display has thin bezel edging and offering good brightness at a 1080p resolution. The keyboard is backlit and has a nice design. Just look at it in the below picture:

Specifications

IdeaPad 730S it is having multiple options for CPU and RAM size from which you can choose from. You can start with a i5 i5-8265U Processor and go up until a i7-8565U Processor and 16 GB of RAM. Beside that if we are speaking of connectivity all models are equipped with:

Performance and Battery

In function of what you need you can go up an acquire a more powerful version. The only problem is that the battery remains the same. Lenovo is telling that battery can go until 10 hours but you are lucky if it will last 8 hours. Below are some benchmarks on CPU and SSD done on Core i5-8265U :

The IdeaPad 730S has just one display option: a glossy finish, non-touch 1920×1080 IPS LCD panel. Brightness hits about 300 nits which might not be enough in a bright room.
